Hold Requests
Viewing your hold requests:
HIP lets you view a list of your hold requests that have been filled and are waiting to be picked up, as well as hold requests that are still pending. You can cancel an existing hold request, as well as activate or suspend a pending hold request.

HIP displays a list of all the items that you have requested.

Requesting a hold on a library item
After doing a search, you may want to see if a particular item is available for checkout. You can do this by requesting the item. If the item is available, HIP directs you to check the shelves. If the item is not available, you can make a hold request. The library will then hold the item for you when it becomes available. You can request the first available item or a specific item (or copy of the title).
To request a hold on a library item
-
Search for a library item.
-
Do one of these options:
-
- If you want to request the first available item, click Request Item next to the item that you want.
- If you want to request a specific item, display the detailed information about the title (or the full bibliographic information) and click Request Copy next to the copy that you want.
If the item is available, HIP displays a message saying that the item is available on the shelf for checkout.
-
Log in to your user account.
HIP displays the Request Confirmation page. You can see the number of your hold position (or the order in which requests for this item will be filled).
-
If available, choose a notification method from the drop-down list.
-
If available, choose a pickup location from the drop-down list.
-
Enter any additional information in the Comment field.
-
Click Request.
HIP displays a message saying that your request has been placed successfully.
Activating or suspending a hold request
You can activate or suspend a hold request. Suspending a request temporarily defers it until you decide to activate it again or cancel it. You can activate any suspended hold request when you are ready to put the item back on your hold request list.
To activate or suspend a hold request
-
Log in to your user account.
-
Click the Holds link.
HIP displays a list of all the items that you have requested.
-
Do one of these options:
-
-
To change the status of all the items in the list, mark the box to the left of the Title column.
-
Mark the box next to the items for which you want to change the status.
-
-
Click Change Status.
-
If you suspended an active hold request and you want HIP to automatically activate the hold request, choose the date that you want in the Suspend until fields; otherwise, continue with the next step.
