Welcome to Book Club to Go!

In a Book Club to Go! kit you will find:

  1. Multiple copies of a book to circulate amongst your book club members
  2. A short introduction on the author
  3. Suggestion form
  4. Book club questions
  5. One bag to hold all the materials

Tips for a successful book club:

  1. Make notes as you read, and think of themes and discussion questions to inspire conversation
  2. Answer only the questions that are most interesting to your group from the booklet provided—it is only a guide
  3. Share your ideas! There are no right or wrong answers to the questions
  4. Include everyone equally in the discussion
  5. Try something new, like serving food that relates to the book (Discuss Memoirs of a Geisha and serve Japanese food, for example)
  6. Don’t forget to Have Fun!

The person who checks out a Book Club to Go kit is responsible for all items in the kit. The loan period is 6 weeks with 1 renewal of 6 weeks. Renewal is not possible if another patron has placed a reserve on the kit. Overdue fines are $1.00 /day per kit and the replacement cost for a lost kit is $100.00. There is a $1.00 replacement charge for a missing discussion questions sheet.  If you use the St. John’s Libraries, Ross King Library in Mount Pearl or Conception Bay South Library, you can place your Book Club to Go hold online.  If you use any of our other libraries, province wide, please visit your local library to place an Inter Library Loan request.

When your group is finished with the Book Club to Go kit, please check to see if you have all the copies of the book, the discussion questions, the optional suggestion form and the carrying bag before you return the kit.
